SCIENCE WEEKLY VOCABULARY

ARCHIPELAGO. A group of island is called ARCHIPELAGO.
CAPE. Is where a piece of land sticks out into the ocean: CAPE.
COAST. The COAST is where land meets the sea or ocean.
DELTA. If a river has a triangular shape it is called a DELTA.
DEPRESSION. A DEPRESSION is a flat land that is lower than the surrounding land.
ESTUARY. Is the place where the ocean and the river meet.
FIELD. A FIELD an area of land where people plant vegetables or fruits.
ISLAND. Is a piece of land surrounded by water on all sides.
ISTHMUS. The strip of land that connects the peninsula with the land is an ISTHMUS.
PENINSULA. Is a piece of land that is surrounded by water in all sides except one.
PLAIN. Are low, flat lands which are only slightly above sea level.   
PLATEAU. Are high, flat lands. The land on a PLATEAU is higher than the surrounding land.
